What is SVG?
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) is an open-standard vector graphics language that lets you design Web pages with exciting, high-resolution graphics including such sophisticated elements as gradients, embedded fonts, transparency, animation, and filter effects, using plain text commands. The Scalable Vector Graphic format is based on XML (Extensible Markup Language) and is being developed by a working group of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Which browsers are compatible with naqsha.net?
Currently the maps on naqsha.net can only be run on Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser version 5.5 and later having the Adobe SVG Viewer version 3 plug-in installed.
Why can't I see a map in my browser?
To view the maps on naqsha.net you have to use Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser version 5.5. or later and must have the Adobe SVG Viewer (ASV) version 3 plug-in installed on your PC. If the ASV is already installed on your system look for a yellow bar on the top of your browser
How do I install Adobe SVG Viewer on my Windows Vista machine?
When installing Adobe SVG Viewer (ASV) on your Windows Vista machine make sure that you run Internet Explorer in Administrator mode. To do this right click on the Internet Explorer button in the start menu and select Run as Administrator from the context menu. Once you have installed ASV you do not need to run Internet Explorer in administrator mode.
When will you provide support for Firefox?
Firefox has native support for rendering SVG but is not fully implemented. We are currently working to make the maps fully functional on Firefox as well as hope to have them online soon. So keep checking visiting naqsha.net.

Our data format is not compatible with Nokia Maps or other map software for mobile phones. However, we have developed our own mobile java application, naqsha mobile beta 1, which may be downloaded here. |
